Bass of the Week: Steve McDonald Basses Reeder
This week we’re checking out an awesome bass by Steve McDonald Basses called the Reeder. Taking its cues from the classic SG shape, the body has an elongated top horn and forearm for more of an offset look. The strap button has also been moved from the body to the neck for better balance, McDonald explains.
This particular Reeder is fretless with a 32-inch scale. Its body has a poplar core with a maple top stained in a blue purple burst. The bolt-on bubinga neck has a Maccasar ebony fretboard with black fret lines. The 12th line is purple.
Other features include an EMGPX pickup, chrome elephant ear tuners, an adjustable Tunomatic bridge, and an aluminum string through tail piece.

WoW! -Probably the most beautiful fretless board I’ve ever seen! -But the ‘purple burst’? Why?? -It looks like dust! IMO the bass would look so much better w/o the purple as it only serves to distract from the beautiful fretboard..
