Consider the Source Announce Acoustic/Electric Tour
After releasing their new album Hybrid Vol. 1: Such As A Mule last month, Consider the Source has unveiled a new 10-date tour of seated, intimate shows to showcase the music. They’ll be bringing their acoustic instruments alongside their electric axes to build the same musical atmospheres they created on the record.
Bassist John Ferrara will be playing his Fodera as well as a U-Bass and his banjo bass to fill out the low end. It will take that much to cover all of his parts, which can be quite intricate with multiple techniques.
“My bass parts use a lot of two-handed tapping, fingerstyle, slap bass, and custom foot pedals while playing the melody on ‘There Are Four Lights,'” he tells us. “I play a lot of chords and slapped chords on ‘I Am Inevitable’ and do some odd time tapping/ plucking and slapping during the solo sections in ‘This Guy’s the Limit’ and ‘Objects In Motions, Objects At Rest.'”.
You can check out Ferrara’s two-handed tapping style on the U-bass in this new clip of “Rock, Flag & Eagle”:
The tour kicks off March 24th in Roanoke, Virginia at the 5 Points Music Sanctuary before working their way up the mid-Atlantic into New England. The final date is scheduled for New York City’s City Winery on April 30th.
Hybrid Vol. 1: Such As A Mule is available now on CD and as a digital download (iTunes, Amazon MP3, and Bandcamp).
