LeCompte Electric Bass Introduces P-31 and J-31 Models

LeCompte Electric Basses has introduced two new bass models for 2023 with the P-31 and the J-31. Named after their shorter 31.18-inch scale lengths, the basses were dreamed up with the collision of two classic instruments.
“My original idea was inspired by the fusion of a Telecaster guitar and a P-bass,” says luthier Bud LeCompte. “As with all my basses, these two designs are customizable, including a Tri-Five Chevy-inspired option for both the P and the J, if that’s your thing. Both models are available as four- and five-string basses.”
Both the P-31 and J-31 are crafted with either an alder or ash body with a three-piece quartersawn maple neck topped with your choice of a Pau Ferro, Indian rosewood, or maple fingerboard. They have 20 frets with a zero fret with dot inlays for fret markers.

The models are set apart by their body shapes as well as their pickups. The J-31 has a pair of LeCompte Single-Coil Soapbar J’s, while the P-31 can come in two configurations: the Soapbar J set or a single Triple Threat Split-Coil. Either style has passive controls with options for volume/volume/tone or volume/balance/tone knobs.
The LeCompte Electric Bass P-31 and J-31 come in matte finishes. Prices for a four-string bolt-on bass begin at $1,850. All models are customizable.
