The Streets bassist gets swine flu

The Streets have been forced to cancel their latest shows due to bassist Wayne Vibes becoming sick with swine flu. The band was due to headline at the Summer Sundae festival in Leicester, England on August 15th, and play Edinburgh’s Picture House in Scotland on the 16th. Indie band Idlewild stepped in to close the show instead.

Singer Mike Skinner has apologized to fans via Twitter, saying “Just as i get the all clear, my bass player Wayney is diagnosed with swine flu. This weekend is not going to happen. i want to cry for socialist and capitalist reasons. It is with sincere regret that we’ve had to cancel this weekends shows. i think my previous messages have demonstrated my frustration.”

The Streets have also released “He’s behind your he’s got Swine Flu,” Skinner asks that you “listen to the bassline of this song and spare a thought for the guy who played it, suffering with the terrible virus.”

We wish Wayne all the best and a speedy recovery.
