Reader Spotlight: Oscar Harris

Meet Oscar Harris, a bassist from Columbus, Ohio, and our player in the spotlight for April 6, 2010.

Bio:

Oscar Harris is the Lead vocalist/bassist/songwriter for the band Unisoul, and the owner of Rokcity Studios.

Oscar began his career as a musician as a rocker in a cover band playing a ’67 Fender P Bass. His musical style emulated the likes of Geddy Lee, Steve Harris, James Deware, and Jack Bruce.

In the last 7 years, Oscar has worked to become a fixture in the Central Ohio music scene. He has performed and shared the stage with many popular bands in the Ohio area as well as established himself as one of the up and coming bassists and blues/rock vocalist in the Ohio region. With experience in many musical styles from progressive rock to soulful blues come some opportunities to play in varied situations. Oscar has excelled as an accomplished performer and band leader.

I am the founder and leader of the band Unisoul. We create our own music and perform renditions of covers with inspiration from some of the very best in Funk Rock.

Some of the artists we are influenced by and cover include:
Mothers Finest, Mandrill, War, Funkadelic, Automatic Man, Natalie Merchant, The Cranberries, Robert Randolph and the family band, The Barkays, and many more.
We use stunning stage attire and high energy stage performances to take you back to the days of true entertainment.

After hearing James Dewar of Robin Trowler fame, I knew that was my direction.
