Nikolai Fraiture Confirms New Strokes Album for March

Nikolai FraitureBassist Nikolai Fraiture has confirmed that the new Strokes album is almost complete and is set for a March release. In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Fraiture explained the group’s fourth album hearkens back to their “classic sound.”

“Sonically, I feel it’s the album which should have been made between Room On Fire and First Impressions Of Earth,” he said.

Though no dates have been announced, the bassist says the band is planning on touring the world.

The new album will be their first effort since taking a break after 2006’s First Impressions of Earth. Since then the band members have pursued other ventures, but haven’t forgotten their main gig.

“We didn’t really break up but we didn’t see each other for a long time,” Fraiture said. “When you get back together there was a lot of weird energy flowing around. There are different dynamics in the group in different ways.”
