BassGirl: Amerika

Annie sent us this new video of BassGirl, who we’ve featured before to rave reviews. Annie says, “[Here’s BassGirl’s cover of Jaco Pastorius’s] “Amerika”. Not sure if you’re posting any special [videos on 9/11], but thought this might be appropriate.”

We agree.

On this 10th anniversary of 9/11, we’re reminded of the tragedy we faced here in the U.S., and our thoughts go out to all the family and friends of the victims, and to the heroes of that day.

Our thoughts are also on the thousands and thousands of connections we’ve made with bassists all around the world through this site, Facebook and Twitter — tens of thousands of people of the most diverse backgrounds and beliefs, who share one common love — that of bass and music. Easy to find common ground when you’re open to it.

We’re also reminded of what a great country this is… that a 14 year old bassist can pursue her dream of music and share it with the world.

Do something great today.

P.S. The photo below was taken at a Jeff Coffin Mu’Tet concert, with BassGirl standing next to Jaco’s son, bassist Felix Pastorius. Added bonus: BassGirl is rocking her No Treble tee.
