Catherine Popper Leaves Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Catherine PopperCatherine Popper has parted ways with the folk/blues rock-tinged group Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. Popper, who joined the group in 2009, made the announcement on her Facebook page.

“Hey everybody for the past two and a half years, [Grace Potter and the Nocturnals] has been my family away from my family. We’ve all grown so much together. So it’s with sadness that I want y’all to know the Goodnight Irene benefit in VT in September was my last gig with GPN in the foreseeable future. It was a bittersweet night, to be sure, and we had a kind farewell as they left to go make a new record. I’m a lucky so-and-so to have been a part of that crew for as long as I was and I wish them all the joy the world has to offer.”

The departure comes on the heels of an announcement that the band will be touring with “country music superstars Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw.” The band has yet to announce an official replacement for Popper.

  1. “folk/blues rock-tinged group” rock tinged? I guess I need to re-calibrate my rock-o-meter….

Maybe you do. Grace Potter is the epitome of rock chick. Her covers of zz top, Jefferson airplane, Tom Petty are brilliant and if you want more, watch and listen to 2.22, that’s epic

  2. That’s to bad good band with some solid bass lines and she hot as well.

  3. She is a killer bassist, great feel and tone, that is what is all about.

  4. Dave Whittaker

Sorry to see you go Catherine, your talents and stage presence will be missed dearly! We will be watching for you as we know you will be back! All our best! Love your soulful bass style,
