Uxia Martinez Botana: Persichetti’s Parable XVII for Double Bass
Twentieth century American composer and music educator Vincent Persichetti is well known for his collection of works entitled Parables, a series of works for unaccompanied instruments which he wrote between 1965 and 1987. “Parable XVII” (our favorite) was written for solo double bass.
Here’s a clip of Uxia Martinez Botana performing the piece in recital. The amount of control she shows over her instrument is astonishing while the emotion she pours into it is breathtaking, and for that we say bravo!
she is great and not breaking her neck either I need practice from her…
Incredible tone and feel. Her control is amazing, her playing looks effortless.
Solid. Bravo!
Beautiful sound, astonishing expressiveness. And, on top of all that, she’s a beauty too!
mmm…I love the way the sound affects the movement of her body.
Marty there is another song you should check out called Kadenza by Teppo Hauto-Aho. It’s similar to the Parable in its mood and style but utilizes different techniques and evokes a different sort of feeling.
Incredible
