Radial Engineering Introduces Firefly Tube Direct Box
Radial Engineering was showing off their new Firefly DI box at their booth at the NAMM Show this year. Built for for both live and recording purposes, the Firefly features a Class-A tube preamp with dual inputs that allow for quickly switching instruments.
The Firefly’s signal path goes straight to a tuner output that stays on. It features a 12AX7 tube drive with gain and trim controls. It also includes the company’s Drag Control load correction, which Radial says enables the player to adjust the load on the magnetic pickup for a more natural rendering. When the feature is bypassed, the load switches to 4 meg-ohms, allowing it to be used with piezo pickups.
The Radial Firefly DI is available now with a street price of around $599. For more, check out the Radial Engineering website.
