Rush: Medley – By-Tor And The Snow Dog, In The End, In The Mood, 2112 Finale – Live (1981)
Do you ever listen to music from your early years and get transformed back to that time?
This video does that for me, and I’m betting it does for a lot of No Treble readers. This is Rush performing the medley of “By-Tor & the Snow Dog”, “In the End”, “In the Mood” and “2112 Finale”. This is of course from trio’s Exit… Stage Left DVD.
And man, does Geddy Lee‘s Rickenbacker sound awesome.
This is the music of my youth and the stuff that made me a life-long Rush fan. I can still picture sitting in my room, vinyl spinning, headphones cranked, and bass in hand. How about you?
I watched this concert on VHS at least twice a week for years it seemed. Rush was and still is my greatest musical influence.
You and Rush are in it for life.
Finally, some Rickenbacker goodness.
Oh hell yeah!
Ged is the greatest living rock bass player. Thank God for him.
Geddy Lee, Rush & 2112 – the main reason I played a Rickenbacker 4001 in my playing days back in the late ’70’s and early ’80’s!
Lots of music sends me back in time, and its wonderful
“Do you ever listen to music from your early years and get transformed back to that time?”
OHH GOD YES! I’m 13 all over again. And I have no idea how much it sucks playing a Ric. and I’ve never heard jazz… or even Primus.
its feels so good. RUSH RULES
Bitchin!
This album was a major reason I picked up the bass in 1985. Kick ass!
Hell yeah! I’d skip school just to watch this vhs tape all day over and over!
I have never seen Rush in concert, and feel like I need to mark that off my bucket list before one of them dies :P tickets went on sale today at http://www.ticketfuse.com/concert_tickets/rush_tickets/.. anyone else going to Charlotte?
Will be in Charlotte, cannot wait!
I learned to play listening to Geddy..best ever.
Geddy Lee and Chris Squire both have that same untouchable style. None of their songs would work without the bass parts. Saw Rush a few times and he nails his parts always.
You learned to play…..When did that happen Todd? :)
its good to hear that ricky tone maybe geddy would consider pickin it up again.not that the jazz doesn’t sound as good.ricky cuts through well with neals awsome drummimg.
This song, is a prime definition of Geddy; apparent randomness but planned and executed to a T.
Geddy is a machine.
Wow…saw them around this time and forgot how awesome. Stopped watching the Olympics opening I became so engrossed in this video. Sweet!
For me, there are 2 kinds of bass in the world: Rickenbacker, and all others…..
Yes Mr Lee, you made the bass guitar stand out for me. Never looked back.
There is no finer ‘Power Trio’ on the planet.
Simply AWESOME. Yes, vinyl spinning on the stereo record player sitting on top of my Sunn combo amp with bass in hand learning from one of my top influences, Geddy Lee… This video rockets me right back there!
This version of By-Tor is the reason I made the bass my life.
