Epiphone Introduces Thunderbird Classic-IV PRO Basses

Epiphone is unveiling a new version of a classic with the Thunderbird Classic-IV PRO. The bass is set apart from its siblings by being equipped with a pair of Gibson TB Plus Humbucking pickups featuring ceramic magnets, which the company says produce “high gain, smooth tone and high-end definition.” The pickups are controlled with separate volume knobs as well as a master tone knob.

Sporting the same iconic design first introduced in 1963, the bass is built with mahogany body wings, a 7-ply mahogany/walnut laminate neck, and a rosewood fingerboard. It comes in either Alpine White or Vintage Sunburst.

  1. I want them both :D I love my Epiphone Thunderbird to pieces and have played it at every gig, practice, rehearsal and recording session since getting it in February :D

  2. Will it come in a Lefty Model?

  3. Will be adding both to the arsenal!

  4. Holy shit give me the white one!

  5. Apart from the price and the Epiphone badge on the trussrod cover what is the difference between this and a Gibson? I WANT!

  6. this bass if Epi makes it as noted, should kick ass.

  7. I’ve always wanted a T-bird, but usually don’t have an extra $1500 in my pocket..If these new Epis really have Gibson pickups, and I know the build quality is very close, I will have one soon. Sweet!

  8. I have this exact bass – though I don’t know if this new version is any different – and it makes the most delicious sound.

  9. ARRGGG. Just got a classic IV pro. Wife won’t let me touch it till Christmas.
