Wild Customs Introduces Bass Version of Vulture Guitar

Wild Customs has made a bass version of their Vulture guitar. The Vulture Bass’s retro design features a reverse headstock, angular body shape, and three pickups made by SP Custom. Stocked with passive electronics, each pickup has a volume control in addition to the master tone knob.

The bass sports a sugar pine body with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard. Wild Customs explains the pine body allows for a big heavy sound without a mushy low-end. The bridge is Gotoh styled.

The Wild Customs Vulture Bass is listed with a price of €1,899 (approx. $2,389 USD). Check out their website for more.

  1. The top says 3 volumes and a Master volume but the Specs say 3 volumes and 1 tone.

    • More volume control than you can shake a stick at! It’s actually 3 volumes and 1 tone, and the error has been corrected. Thanks Evan.

  2. Yeah, they are going to sell a lot of these. People are lining up and getting on the waiting list to dump nearly 2400 on this ugly bass. NOT!

Like the reverse head stock though.

  3. BTW, link to their website is wrong. S/B http://www.wildcustomguitars.com/ is http://www.wildcustomSguitars.com/.

Their website has links that don’t work.

  4. Gotta get me one of them!

  5. the finish looks all pitted.

  6. A pine body? is that why the finnish looks like crap?

    • I would like to think so, that’s one of the issues of pine… natural finish looks great, but paint it over and the flaws in the wood stand out. IMO, pine is good for furniture, especially rustic, but certainly not musical instruments (unless you want a rustic looking bass).

    • Looks like painted cardboard.

  7. Not my thing really, and I’m not a fan of the finish either.

  8. body shape reminds me of an airline.

  9. I love it – it’s like what the Thunderbird should always have been.. but for that price I think I’d just hack together a reverse-style Fenderbird and throw in some Chi-Sonics.
