Rudy Sarzo Leaves Blue Oyster Cult

Rudy SarzoRock legend Rudy Sarzo has left the ranks of Blue Oyster Cult, he revealed in an upcoming interview with Ultimate Classic Rock. The bassist, whose resume includes work with Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot, and Whitesnake, said his departure was on good terms.

“Due to my scheduling with other projects that I’m doing, it became a little bit hard for me to keep a really solid working schedule with BOC, so we amicably, we just basically parted ways,” Sarzo said. “So they can actually find somebody who can devote more time to the band and I can actually pursue other bands that I’m doing.”

Sarzo’s other responsibilities include a “Japanese anime-inspired” project called Animetal U.S.A., a new band with former Anthrax singer Dan Nelson called Tred, the Dio tribute band Dio Disciples, and his continued involvement with the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp.

There’s been no word yet from Blue Oyster Cult as to a replacement.
