Marco Panascia with Dado Moroni and Peter Erskine: Body and Soul
Marco Panascia is one of those bassists you can’t help but be impressed with. He’s got an incredible command of the instrument and impeccable taste to match.
Here he takes the lead on the classic jazz ballad “Body and Soul” with a little help from pianist Dado Moroni and drummer extraordinaire Peter Erskine. The clip comes from an outtake from Moroni’s DVD Live in Beverly Hills.
In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
respect but not so my thing.
What a beautiful bass sound! Can anybody tell me what bass he’s playing? I know it’s all in the fingers, but some of the sound does indeed come out of the instrument ;-).
ha ha ha – das sagen se alle!
He has a couple of basses by Arnold Schnitzer, but his main bass has an extension on the E string, this might be one of his other basses, or it might not be his bass at all !
Nice. And his smile at the end says, “Yup, bass players are the coolest ever!”
