As part of their 125th anniversary celebrations, Höfner has unveiled a limited edition Black Violin Bass. The new bass shares many of the specs of the company’s ‘61 Cavern bass but utilizes closely spaced single coil “Toaster” pickups that were only used in 1960.
Finished in a sleek thin coat gloss black, its dark motif is complimented with a black control console with special black knobs. The body is made of flame maple sides with a spruce top, while the 3-piece neck consists of flame maple and beech. It also has the vertical Höfner headstock logo.
The Höfner Black Violin Bass is limited to 12 pieces, which will be available in left and right-handed models. It’s handmade in Germany and is expected to be shipping this December with a price of €2650 (approx. $3,409.72 USD). For more info, check out the Höfner website.
