Jack Bruce: Cream 2013 Reunion Plans Scrapped

Jack BruceIn a recent interview with the BBC, rock legend Jack Bruce revealed that plans for a Cream reunion in 2013 have been halted due to a rift between guitarist Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker. The band, which was one of the first rock supergroups, last reunited in 2005 for four sold out shows.

“There was supposed to be [a reunion] next year, but I think Ginger upset Eric this time, so it’s not happening,” Bruce told the interviewer, adding that he couldn’t tell what exactly happened.

Bruce has meanwhile been recording and touring with Spectrum Road and his Big Blues Band, which will be heading to South America for a few concerts later this month.

  1. I seem to recall an interview with Ginger Baker where he said he refused to work with Jack again because his volume damaged Ginger’s hearing during their last reunion.

  2. They’re all of the age now where they should just grow up.

  3. @Jay Chambers: I couldn’t have said it better.

  4. Ginger is a fantastic drummer but a complete horses ass. I read his biography, and basically he has screwed everything he has ever touched. His bands are all short lived because he is such a pain in the ass, his business ventures have all been failures. Both his daughter Ginette and his son Kofi have been quoted about what lousy father he is. He blew $5M fron the 2005 Cream reunion and is broke again. What a doofus (but a great drummer). I was at the 2005 Cream show where he talks iin his book about how deafening Jack’s bass was, and how Jack was “leaping about the stage like Brice Springsteen”. I was there, it didn’t happen, he’s an idiot.
