Bass of the Week: Christopher Woods Guitars Wizard Bass

Christopher Woods Guitars Wizard Bass

This week we check out the Wizard by Christopher Woods Guitars. Woods, who got his start working for Michael Tobias, started building under his own name in 2000 under the CWG banner and does work on a custom basis.

The Wizard is a striking design with long, symmetrical horns and a round bottom that comes to a point just above the strap button. Each one of the basses is unique in construction and finish. Among his woodwork, Woods fashioned a Wizard out of acrylic and placed colored LEDs in the fretboard and body for a crazy light show.

While woods and pickups are negotiable, CWG typically uses alder in the body with a maple neck and ebony fingerboard. Since each bass is custom built, Woods also offers custom scales, hardware, hand carving, binding, graphics, and more. For more info, check out the Christopher Woods Guitars website.
