Studio Jams with Leland Sklar: Cissy Strut
Leland Sklar recently took part in an episode of Studio Jams, an online series that brings together different legendary musicians to jam on songs and see what happens. The rest of the band includes saxophonist Najee, guitarist Joe Jewell, drummer Rayford Griffin and David Garfield on keyboards.
The group decided to jam out the classic Meters song, “Cissy Strut.”
“These were fun. No rehearsal,” Sklar shared on Facebook. “Just show up, meet the guys and play! All spontaneous! What fun…”

old guys rock!!
playing the b section wrong …………………..like everybody does !
That drives me crazy when I’ve played Cissy Strut in a jam. I think the correct way is more interesting with less notes, more syncopated.
Sorry honey I’m not taking my meds today, I’m playing ! : )
Joe jewel in with the studio guys…great. Naji, love his flute playing. This was sent to me a yr. Or so ago…hmmm?
My takeaway is how relaxed they all are…
