Brad Russell: Cult of Personality

Here’s something you wouldn’t expect: a cover of Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality” on bass, drums and 7-string electric violin. The entire arrangement was put together by bassist Brad Russell, who absolutely tears the song up with a gnarly distortion and blazing licks. He then trades solos with violinist Earl Maneein while Jason Furman holds the beat on drums.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.

  1. Wow mind blowing. Still having that bass tone while doing guitar like solos.

  2. These guys are amazing! So cool!!!

  3. Totally insane! Love it!

  4. I don’t like how they didn’t show us how he did the bass squeals! How is that even possible?

    • The deal is, add crunch and then you pluck with your finger and lightly touch the string with the fat part of your thumb and quickly take it off.(REALLY HARD AT FIRST)
