Nathan East Releases Debut Solo Album
You know him. You most likely love him. He’s the bass sideman to the stars — over his 40-year career, he played with everyone Barry White to Eric Clapton to Phil Collins to George Harrison to Michael Jackson. He’s also a member of Fourplay and bassist Daft Punk (that’s his line you hear on “Get Lucky”).
Now he has finally released his debut solo album.
The self-titled record Nathan East features both new songs (like “Daft Funk” and “Madiba”) and his takes on pop/rock/soul classics like Stevie Wonder’s “Sir Duke,” The Beatles’ “Yesterday” (which is a duet with his son, Noah) and Blind Faith’s “Can’t Find My Way Home.”
Check out East and his son in action. It’s something else:
The bassist’s Youtube channel features a ton of great info about the album in cool interviews with East and the other players on the record, including this piece about “Madiba” a song written in honor of late South African president, revolutionary, Nobel Peace Prize winner and humanitarian Nelson Mandela:
East has noted how important collaboration was in the creation of the album, and he notes that on his website: “You can tell a difference in the way the music feels. They’re calling it a solo album, but I consider it everybody’s record.”
Nathan East is available on CD and digital formats (iTunes and Amazon MP3).

I only listened to “Sir Duke” – but that was such a horrible elevator-muzak-version of a great song, that i do not want to hear more from this album.
You need to open your senses and listen to different interpretations of music !!!!
