G&L Launches Detroit Muscle Series: SS Collection LB-100 Basses

If you love cars and basses, you’re in for a treat. G&L has revealed the Detroit Muscle Series SS Collection, which brings their instruments together with four historic color finishes from ’60s-era GM Motors muscle cars. The lineup includes the recently reissued LB-100 in either Daytona Yellow, Hugger Orange, Cranberry Red, or Marina Blue. Its aesthetic appeal is rounded out with a color-matched headstock and a 1-ply black pickguard for what G&L calls a “clean, sleek look.”

Besides the finish, the SS Collection version of the LB-100 retains the same details of the new LB-100. It’s built with an alder body, hard rock maple neck, and either a maple or rosewood fingerboard. The pickup is a G&L Alnico V humbucking split-coil matched to passive electronics with volume and tone controls. Hardware includes a saddle lock bridge, PLEK-processed medium jumbo frets, and utlra-lite tuners with aluminum tapered string posts.

The G&L Detroit Muscle Series SS Collection LB-100 bass is shipping soon with a to-be-determined street price.

  1. For moment here I was excited because I thought the SS stood for short scale. This is just a slightly different batch of paint jobs. Nice bass, but no big deal.

  2. Don’t get me wrong, I’d happily play one, but it’s kind of a ” Meh” bass.

  3. Some racing strips would have been a nice touch
