Bass of the Week: Paul Belgrado Stringed Instruments Custom AG #1

Paul Belgrado Custom AG #1 Bass body

This week we check out the Custom AG by Belgian luthier Paul Belgrado. Finished in a root beer color nitrocellulose finish, the bass gives an air of classic ideas with a modern approach.

The AG is built with an alder body, maple neck, and madagascar rosewood fingerboard. It gets its meaty sound from a pair of Lindy Fralin double coil, hum-canceling jazz bass pickups. Other features include Hipshot tuners, a Fender vintage bridge, and an oil finish on the neck.

  4. Virgil

I am not into vintage styled instruments but I am intriqued by this bass. I would love to hear it.

  5. Madagascar rosewood fingerboard…. ok if this luthier is a serious individual, he won’t be doing more basses like this one http://www.cites.org/eng/Madagascar-president-CITES-Secretary-General-call-for-international-support-to-halt-surge-in-illegal-timber-trade

  6. Clif-Bassclif

I like it …It’s alittle different.

  7. Bill

    How much? Looks nice!

  8. We had a talk on his facebook page and he said he won’t use this rosewood anymore, but Baroni instead as it is CITES appendix 3 listed. I welcome this initiative, you’re a responsible individual Mr Paul Belgrado ;)

He’s a great luthier. I’m happy to own one of his artefacts since 1998. It still looks and sounds great! I’d like to share a pic , but I can’t apparently.
