The Who: 5:15, Live at The Royal Albert Hall
When it comes to a huge bass tone, it doesn’t get much bigger than John Entwistle’s signature sound. Today we’re celebrating The Ox’s birthday with a clip that proves that point.
Taken from The Who’s performance at Royal Albert Hall in 2000, Entwistle lays down a mighty groove on the song “5:15” before taking an insane solo around the five-minute mark. He pulls out all the stops with incredible right hand technique, tapping, and a drop tuner on his E-string.
Happy birthday, Thunderfingers.

Pity he is not around to hear or read our wishes. R.I.P. John.
The original lead bassist …and it worked with The Who .A great loss . R.I.P.
A truly Great rock bassist – R.I.P. brother!
He wasn’t called “Ox” for nothing : ) RIP John, you are missed…….
This is great. However, the bass solo has no relation to the song. Live at Leeds still is the benchmark. All of it. The two disc set . With headphones. Nothing comes close. When you listen to LAL you realize that you do not need a solo section when you can blow minds with dynamic ensemble playing coupled with improvisational rock .
