Marcus Miller Documentary Announced

Marcus Miller

Marcus Miller’s prolific, musically diverse career and his influence are detailed in a documentary to be released digitally in January 2015.

Zycopolis, a French firm, produced the documentary, called Marcus, about the electric bassist and multi-instrumentalist (he’s also a keyboardist and clarinetist/bass clarinetist), who has left an indelible mark and several music genres. Miller worked with the late jazz legend Miles Davis on the Tutu album and was deeply involved in the musical career of Luther Vandross, handling producing, composing and playing duties with the late R&B great, including “Power of Love/Love Power” for which Miller won an R&B Song of the Year Grammy.

Aside from appearing on 500 albums and working in genres ranging from pop and rock to jazz, blues, and opera, Miller has released solo work and played in both the bass trio S.M.V. with Stanley Clarke and Victor Wooten and as part of DMS, a funk-jazz trio with George Duke and David Sanborn. He has even written film music.

Miller’s influence just can’t be underestimated, as this trailer reveals:

The film will be available on iTunes and Google Play on Jan. 26, 2015.
