The Levin Brothers Announce Tour Dates
After releasing their first ever album together last year, Pete and Tony Levin have announced twelve date tour of the Northeastern United States. The musical brothers duo will kick things off in Rosendale, New York at the Rosendale Cafe on March 14th before covering most of New York state with stops in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
The group’s classic cool jazz style may not be what bassist Tony Levin became known for, but he cites it as an early influence that never let go. “We grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, where we were trained in Classical music from a young age,” he writes. “But we also loved the 1950’s recordings by jazz bassist Oscar Pettiford and jazz French horn player Julius Watkins; and those have remained influential, even as we went on to other playing. The catchy melodies, deep grooves, and tight solos made that music memorable, and it’s been percolating for years for us to do an album of our own in that style.”
The Levin Brothers will be joined by saxophonist Erik Lawrence and Jeff Siegel. For a taste of the tour, check out this audio sample from their album:
