Guild Introduces Westerly Collection B-140E Acoustic Bass Guitar
Guild has introduces the Westerly Collection, a series pays homage to the company’s early history of acoustic instruments. The lineup includes the B-140E acoustic bass guitar, which is based on the mid-70’s B-50 model.
Utilizing the Guild jumbo body shape, the bass is built with a solid Sitka spruce top, solid African mahogany back and sides, and an Indian rosewood fingerboard with a matching bridge. Its nut and saddle are made of NuBone while a mother-of-pearl rosette sits as a light accent. The mahogany neck is vintage shaped with a “C” profile and a nut width of 1 1/2 inches. For electronics, Guild fits the B-140E with a Fishman Sonitone Bass pickup.
The Guild B-140E will be available soon with a list price of $1,010.

I have a Guild acoustic bass guitar made in Westerly. Model a B-500-E . I saw it in an ad and called them. They said that it was a one off . I ordered it from Mandolin Brothers a little over 20 years ago .I forgot to specify depth; a little thinner than I would have liked (3 3/4′). Maple back and sides ! A little stiff at first ,couldn’t get volume acoustic only so I started playing it with a pick. As it dried out it started ringing more. Playing with phosphor bronze strings was a learning experience, they don’t make bells with cast iron or nylon. Fishman ( hardly ever play w/ amp). No pickguard.. Just measured 31″ scale. Spruce and rosewood. had a lot of family in Westerly so sentimental favorite.
