Bass of the Week: 3G Handmade Instruments Sniper Bass
This week we’re taking a look at the Sniper bass by 3G Handmade Instruments. Made in Italy, the bass was designed for portability while keeping a full size bass experience.
“[The] Sniper Bass was born to solve transport problems due to the electric bass pack size while maintaining the traditional scale and balance of a typical bass, whether you play sitting or standing with the shoulder strap,” the company writes. “Sniper Bass was built with a body shape that makes possible to put it into a Steinberger bass case or bag. Being a handmade product you can customize it as all our products.”
Standard features on the bass include a 34-inch scale, an alder body with a set ovangkol neck, and an ebony fretboard. It utilizes a T4M headless black bridge tuning system and Tesla pickups.
As 3G states, each bass they make is made by hand and therefore customizable. Here’s a clip of Girogio Terenziani playing a custom Sniper bass featuring a maple neck, EMG HZ pickups, an active preamp and a Green Army satin finish:
