Bass of the Week: Kudritsky Guitars Pandora Bass

Our friend Andrew Arnautov wrote in to share this gorgeous Pandora bass made by Ukrainian luthier Alex Kurdritsky. Arnautov calls the maker, who has over four decades of instrument building under his belt, one of the field’s best kept secrets.

Kudritsky Guitars Pandora Bass - Full

Kudritsky named the model Pandora after the Greek goddess because “the instrument explodes with plethora of sounds just like a pandora’s box.” The singlecut, neck-through bass is built with a 5-piece maple, mahogany, and curly maple neck matched with maple body wings. Its luscious top is made from purpleheart with wenge accents. The lower cutaway allows access all the way up to the 26th fret of its rosewood fingerboard.

Electronics include a pair of Seymour Duncan NYC pickups and 3-band EQ. Each of the pickups has a three-way coil switch to choose between operation modes. Finally, Kudritsky rounded the bass out with Schaller M4 tuners and a Schaller 2000 bridge.
