Mats Eilertsen Steps Out on “Rubicon”

Mats Eilertsen: RubiconNorwegian bassist Mats Eilertsen, known for his work on a number of ECM Records’ sessions, has released his own music now, on the album, Rubicon.

The work was originally commissioned in 2014 for the Vossa Jazz festival, and after some fine-tuning, Eilertsen and his band recorded it in fall 2015 in Rainbow Studio Oslo. Aside from Eilertsen, the musicians on the album include Trygve Seim, soprano and tenor sax; Eirik Hegdal, clarinet, bass clarinet, soprano and baritone sax; Rob Waring, marimba and vibraphone; Thomas T. Dahl, guitar; Harmen Fraanje, piano and Fender Rhodes; and Olavi Louhivuori, drums.
