The Pixies Return with Paz Lenchantin on Bass

The Pixies: Head CarrierThe Pixies have released their first album in two years and their first with bassist Paz Lenchantin as part of the band’s permanent line-up.

Lenchantin toured with the group in 2014 and her work can be heard on the deluxe edition of the band’s 2014 album, Indie Cindy, which was the group’s first without bassist Kim Deal.

The new album, Head Carrier, was recorded after the band took six weeks for pre-production – writing, arranging and rehearsing songs. “This was a wonderful luxury, for us to have the time to be able to really work these new songs out,” drummer David Lovering said. “By the time we started recording, we all knew the songs backwards and forwards, so it took half as long for us to make this album as it did to make ‘Indie Cindy.” The record also features Lenchantin as the lead vocalist on “All I Think About Now,” which she co-wrote with bandleader Black Francis.

Here’s the album’s “Tenement Song”:

Head Carrier is available on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
