G&L Guitars Unveils Kiloton 5 Bass
After introducing the Kiloton bass late last year, G&L Guitars has now unveiled a five-string version of the model. The Kiloton 5 adds a low B-string while retaining features of the four-string.

Its body comes in alder or swamp ash and is based on the company’s SB-2, which was designed by Leo Fender. The neck is built with hard rock maple neck with either a rosewood or maple fingerboard. Another key component of the instrument is its single MFD humbucker, which is controlled with a three-position series/split/parallel toggle.
“Simple volume and tone controls are devastatingly effective, revealing a wide range of textures Leo’s MFD bucker is famous for,” G&L writes. “What’s more, Kiloton 5 is armed with a 6-bolt neck and Leo Fender-designed Saddle-Lock bridge to transfer all the energy right into the body end-grain for an incredibly resonant instrument.”
The Kiloton 5 is now available with a street price around $1,499.99.
