Video Premiere: Jonathan Scales Fourchestra’s “The Trap,” featuring MonoNeon

We have another jaw-dropping video premiere for you today, this time from the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra. The band, led by steel pan player Scales, has always been stocked with killer bassists. (Just check the archives.) This live performance of “The Trap” features band member E’Lon JD with special guest Dywane “MonoNeon” Thomas, Jr., who also appeared on the song for the latest album, PILLAR.

“MonoNeon played on ‘The Trap’ on the new album and we definitely played it together on tour with Sput & Weedie Braimah, but I was STILL amazed at how he could just roll up with no preparation or rehearsal and breathe so much of his own creativity and vibe into my complicated composition,” Scales tells us. “I also love putting multiple bass players on stage at the same time and seeing how they find their space in the music, so it was something special to have MonoNeon & E’Lon JD together….2 nights after this show, we actually had Victor Wooten with us in addition to E’Lon & Mono, all on ‘The Trap’!…good times, indeed.”
