Peavey Announces the MAX Bass Combo Amp Series

Peavey Electronics has announced the MAX series of bass combo amps with four new models: the MAX 100, the MAX 150, the MAX 250, and the MAX 208. Each of the cabs features an angled baffle design that aims the woofer up towards your ears.

“While the low end is omnidirectional, the transient is directional, meaning players can hear themselves clearly without having to tilt their amp back,” Peavey explains.

The amps are named after their wattage, except for the 200-watt MAX 208, which is defined by its two 8-inch drivers. The MAX 100 offers 100 watts with a 10-inch woofer, the MAX 150 dishes 150 watts with a 12-inch woofer, and the MAX 250 delivers 250 watts with a 15-inch woofer.

The MAX 208 is the smallest of the bunch and features a 3-band EQ, an overdrive, a mid-shift switch, a bright switch, and Peavey’s Kosmos-C bass enhancement circuit. The rest of the models carry the same features while adding a chromatic tuner and mute switch. Other common features include an auxiliary input, a headphone output, and a balanced direct output with ground lift.

The Peavey MAX Series will be available soon with price points ranging from $199 to $449.

Saw these new Peavey Combos online and some MI stores catalog. Didn’t see a pending arrival date, so I just bought a new Fender Rumble 100w V3 12″ combo a couple weeks ago. I like it alot but really wanted to try these new Peavey combos’ out. I have alot of big giggin gear so I get minimal use of a combo. Glad Peavey putting out new product.

I’m curious about the 208. Seems like it might be a nice punchy rig for my smaller gigs, and probably great for keys, too. Looking forward to the release date.

I’ve heard these weren’t actually going to reach some of these online music retail stores till about March or April 2019 (??). That was what I was told from a Sweetwater rep when I went to order one. I didn’t feel like waiting that long. So, I got the Peavey MAX 112 which is pretty cool, too. It’s basically the MiniMAX head, but at only about half the power (200 watts). It sounds pretty good and I like that it has a pre-EQ DI. Going to put it through the paces soon.
