Bass of the Week: Citron Guitars Byron “F” Style Bass
Seeing a “violin” bass is fairly common, but Byron Isaacs decided to go a different direction and dreamed up a bass mixed with a mandolin. He approached luthier Harvey Citron to make it a reality. The result: the Byron "F" Style Bass.

I rediscovered this video by Jimmy Herring Band over the weekend and watched it many times. The entire band just brings it on “Matt’s Funk.” Neal Fountain was part of Jimmy’s touring band at that time, and he lays down a tasty line.
Original Meat Puppets Lineup Announces New Album, Tour
The original lineup of The Meat Puppets has announced a new album, “Dusty Notes,” that will be released March 8th with a string of accompanying tour dates. The album will mark the first time this lineup has recorded together since 1995’s “No Joke!”

Umphrey’s McGee bass player Ryan Stasik has a new band called Doom Flamingo, which debuted in 2018. Band member Ross Bogan sums up the Synthwave band by saying, “We just want to make people dance. It’s a ritual.” The band has announce tour dates and a new single.

New for 2019, Fodera has introduced the Select Series. The lineup blends characteristics of their custom instruments as well as their standard instruments to create a middle ground. They’re opening the new range starting with the Monarch 4 Select and Emperor 5 Select.
