Rocket Surgeon Pedals Announces the StarLifter Bass Preamp/DI

Rocket Surgeon Effect Pedal Laboratory StarLifter Bass Preamp/DI

Rocket Surgeon has unveiled their latest creation for bass with the Starlifter Bass Preamp and DI. Built in a pedal format, the box offers a three-band EQ with sweepable mids as well as a three-way contour switch that offers flat, vintage, and modern settings. The EQ section can also be bypassed for a perfectly clean through signal.

“The line out provides plenty of gain to make any amp or powered cabinet sweat,” the company continues. “A tuner out, mute switch, and switchable input impedance add real work flexibility.”

The back panel has an input switch to change the input impedance from 1M? for passive or active basses to 10M? for piezo pickups like those found on upright basses. A 10dB pad decreases gain for high-output instruments. Its DI section has a pre/post EQ section, a ground lift, and a -20dB pad for better interfacing with some equipment.

Another nice feature is the inclusion of LED strips on the left and right of the unit. When the pedal is engaged they turn green and when it’s muted they turn red. Check it out and get a taste of the Starlifter in this prototype demo from Carey Nordstrand:

The Rocket Surgeon Starlifter is available for pre-order at $349. It is expected to ship mid-March.
