Anthony Wellington Announces Bassology Around The World Events

Anthony Wellington

Earlier this year, bassist and world-renowned educator Anthony Wellington announced the second ever Bassology at Sea Cruise, which is set to cover the Caribbean from November 9th through the 16th. Now he’s expanded the operation to a global level with a second cruise in the Mediterranean and “Bassology Down Under.”

“Bassology Around the World combines Anthony Wellington’s love of teaching music theory and electric bass guitar with his love of travel to create exciting and innovative learning opportunities for his beloved students,” the Bassology Around the World website states. “We cultivate friendships based on adventure, devotion to learning and personal growth, and a passion for music.”

The Bassology At Sea Greek Isles Cruise will take place October 13th through the 20th, taking participants to Venice, Montenegro, Greek Isles, and Croatia while they get an amazing bass education. Each bassist will get 22 hours of Bassology curriculum while at sea with two Skype or in-person lessons before the cruise to prepare them. A deserving student will also be awarded a high-end custom bass.

After the Caribbean Cruise in November, Wellington will head to New Zealand and Australia for three-day adventures in Auckland (November 29-December 1), Sydney (December 6-8), and Melbourne (December 13-15). Each will have three options for participation: a Bassology clinic, 12 hours of instruction through a masterclass series, or both.

Bassology at Sea Greek Isles is open to all bass players of any playing ability and is capped at 22 participants. The packages start at $2,968 for the week. The “Down Under” clinics cost $25 USD while the masterclass series is just $400. For more info, check out the Bassology Around the World website.

Anthony Wellington is a truly inspiring and inspired teacher. I have never met any music teacher of any instrument who has so thoroughly thought out every aspect of the bass guitar, music and their relationship to each other. His knowledge of the instrument is vast and comprehensive. He has earned the respect of many world class players such as Victor Wooten and Steve Baily. I personally saw Anthony WOW John Pattitucci with a simple concept about the organization of the fret-board which for all his vast knowledge had never occurred to him. I have attended many of Anthony’s clinics and dozens or private lessons. He is never boring or disinterested regardless of his sometimes grueling schedule. His love of teaching the bass and all students regardless of age or skill level is truly remarkable. His enthusiasm is infectious. I have been playing bass for over 50 years and studied with some of the world’s most renowned teachers and musicians. But I have never met anyone who has thought more about the instrument and the most efficient way to teach and understand music and how it relates to the instrument he truly loves, the bass guitar. My advice is simple, do not miss an opportunity to study with or attend one of his master classes.
