Fodera Announces the Imperial Select Bass

Fodera Imperial Select Bass

Fodera’s latest line of basses, the Select Series, has a new member. The Imperial Select takes the company’s popular singlecut design and builds it in a way to blend the qualities of their Standard and Custom line of instruments.

“The Imperial Select offers players the comfort and tone of our renowned Imperial single-cut design in an approachable package and price for every kind of player. Combined with its color finishes, the Imperial Select delivers on tone and looks,” Fodera writes.

The bass is built with a hand-selected alder body topped with quilted maple and matched with a three-piece maple neck. Its pau ferro fingerboard is fitted with pearloid dots for fret markers. For electronics, Fodera fits the Imperial Select with a pair of Fodera/Seymour Duncan Dual Coil pickups in a specific configuration.

“With its unique pickup placement, the Imperial Select can capture 60’s style growly bridge pickup tones while also having the full-bodied sound and attack for slap style playing,” they write. “Matched with a specially tuned version of our Standard preamp, the Imperial Select EQ centers have been chosen to compliment the natural tone of the bass while still allowing needed tonal flexibility.”

The Fodera Imperial Select will be available in fourteen color finishes. It will carry a price point of $8,500.

  1. “The Imperial Select offers players the comfort and tone of our renowned Imperial single-cut design in an approachable package and price for every kind of player”. Sorry, $8.500 is far from “Approachable” for this player.

Mr. Fodera, your instruments are quite attractive and obviously well made, as well as revered…but….I’m sorry….$8,500 is NOT an “approachable” price point for a lot of bassists.
