Rotosound Previews Ultramag Bass Strings
Rotosound is already looking to 2020 with the announcement of a new set of bass strings. The new Ultramag series is made with Type 52 Alloy and is described as a high-end string.
“With a composition of 52 percent nickel and 48 percent iron, this highly magnetic string will certainly accentuate those middles and lows over their steel counterparts,” says Rotosound’s John Doughy. “Designed for use in the aerospace industry and high-end electronics, the low coefficient of expansion will help maintain tuning in wide-ranging environments. With its corrosion-resistant properties and its unique blend of sound it is truly a string for the discerning player seeking that extra tonal character.”
The sets will come in four-string 40-100, 45-105 and five-string 45-130 gauges for electric bass guitar. They’re built in the company’s UK factory in Sevenoaks. Rotosound says the strings will debut at the 2020 NAMM Show and ship in February. They will carry prices of approximately $39 for the four-string say and $45 for the five-string.
