Bass of the Week: Sawtooth Rudy Sarzo Signature Acoustic-Electric Bass

Rudy Sarzo Playing Signature Acoustic-Electric Bass

Rudy Sarzo has played in a variety of situations, from Quiet Riot to Ozzy Osbourne to The Guess Who to Michael Angelo Batio. This week we’re checking out his signature acoustic bass guitar from Sawtooth.

Available in fretted and fretless versions, the bass is built with flamed maple for the entire body with two bass clef sound holes in the top. It also has a soundhole on its side. “The teardrop-shaped side soundhole monitor improves the quality of the guitar’s voice for both the player and the listeners and also provides the player a better idea of what the audience is hearing,” Sawtooth explains.

Other features include 24 frets, an ebony fingerboard, antique-finished tuners, and a Fishman Presys II preamp system. “The Fishman Presys II preamp systems feature Volume, Tone shaping (Bass and treble), and Phase controls; a pre-wired Fishman Sonicore pickup and low profile control knobs,” the company writes. “It also includes a built-in tuner, low battery indicator, and a separate battery box.”
