Ampeg is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the SVT bass amp, and they’re doing it by turning it up to 11. The company will be displaying a custom-built, one-of-a-kind 11-foot tall SVT bass amp at the 2019 Winter NAMM Show.

We’re thrilled to welcome back Tim Fletcher, who is starting a new bass transcription series on the “Unsung US Bassists.” Tim is kicking things off with his transcription and analysis of Doug Haywood’s bass line on “Late for the Sky” by Jackson Browne.

Here’s a fantastic clip from the 2003 Tokyo Jazz show with Kazumi Watanabe, Richard Bona, and Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez. During one of Bona’s solos, Watanabe’s guitar strap gave out and his guitar came crashing down. Even that was remarkably in time.

Nearly four years after founding the band, Evan Brewer has left the ranks of extreme metal band Entheos. The bassist had been off the road for the last several months of the band’s tour schedule.

Carvin Amps and Audio has expanded their resurrected range of products with the UX1200BGT Wireless System. The system is designed for both guitar and bass, as the company points out its wide frequency response range allows for low notes to “come through with defined nuances.”
