Leland Sklar is no stranger to the annual “Reader Favorite Bassists,” and he makes it once again for 2019. One of the most sought-after bassists on the scene, Leland was busy yet again with some exciting news on The Immediate Family and a tour with Phil Collins. Add to that some incredible videos from over his career, which landed Leland at #10 on this year’s list.
Leland Sklar and The Immediate Family Enter the Studio, Announce Tour Dates
The Immediate Family is a band made up of L.A.’s most sought after session players, including Leland Sklar. The band has announced they’re going into the studio for the own album, and have some tour dates set as well.

Phil Collins Announces Still Not Dead Yet, Live! Tour Dates with Leland Sklar
Phil Collins has extended his “Not Dead Yet” tour with a new 15-day U.S. run in the fall. The “Still Not Dead Yet, Live!” trek will kick off September 23rd. Collins will be joined by the same backing band as last year, including bassist Leland Sklar.

I’d put Verdine White of Earth, Wind & Fire and Gale Ann Dorsey previously with David Bowie and now with Lenny Kravitz on that list of best bass players too.
Leland rides his Bass like a perpetual shooting star. I have followed him for many decades. Among the very best bass players in the world!
