Martin Mendez’s White Stones Releases First Song

White StonesEver since he announced the group last year, we’ve been eagerly waiting to hear what Opeth bassist Martin Mendez’s solo project White Stones will sound like. Now we know, as the band has released the first track from their upcoming debut, Kuarahy.

“Worms” is the first single from the album and features a heavy, death metal groove with bass-driven riffs. Fans of Opeth’s earlier work will certainly dig this. “Finally it’s time to release a piece from the album, we are feeling very excited about sharing this song with you all! hope you dig it! Cheers!” Mendez writes.

Give it a listen with the accompanying music video:

“Named after his birthplace in Uruguay, the record represents a return to [Mendez’s] roots, both familial and musically,” Nuclear Blast writes. “By exploring the forgotten paths of his ancestors via the style of music that remains his one true love – death metal.”

“Worms” is available for download now via iTunes and Amazon MP3, while Kuarahy will be available March 20th.
