David Gross Publishes Two New Bass Books

David Gross Bass Books

David Gross has expanded his list of instructional books by revisiting his earliest book with Very Bassic Bass and publishing the new method book Learning the Fingerboard of the Six-String Bass: Patterns and Permutations Using The Major Scale. The latter was inspired by the great jazz bassist Larry Grenadier.

“My reasoning behind this one came as a result of watching a YouTube video with Larry Grenadier,” Gross explains. “It dawned on me that learning where every note lays on the bass is key to becoming both a better player as well as a more confident player. This book will give you numerous ways to traverse up and down the neck of your bass giving you more possibilities.”

Gross’s Very Bassic Bass is a primer for beginners as well as those wanting a refresher on fundamentals. “If you are already playing bass and find that, even though you’re playing the correct notes, it just does not sound like it does on the recording, then this book is for you,” he writes. “I have presented the bassic principles of music: harmony, melody and rhythm, the keys to really fantastic bass playing.”

Very Bassic Bass and Learning the Fingerboard of the Six-String Bass: Patterns and Permutations Using The Major Scale are both available via Amazon in paperback and Kindle versions.
