Kem Releases “Love Always Wins”
R&B superstar Kem has returned with Love Always Wins, which marks his first album since 2014. The six-year gap had some big life changes for the singer, who got married and had children. While he was busy with his personal life, he also spent the last three and a half years working on the record.
“There’s nobody harder on Kem than Kem,” producer and bassist Derek “D.O.A.” Allen told Rolling Stone. “His genius says, ‘there’s something in my head, and I’m trying to pick this lock. I’m not sure how to do it yet, but once I do, it’s going to be phenomenal.’ It took me about a year to figure that part of him out.”
The album was finished up this year with remote recording around the country. In addition to Allen on bass, Kem’s regular bassist Al “The Burner” Turner helped to fill out the low end. Guests on the album include Brian Culbertson, Toni Braxton, and Erica Campbell.
