Here’s our last monthly bass video roundup for 2020, and it’s a great one. Here are the top 10 reader-favorite videos for the month of November 2020.

1. ZZ Top: “La Grange” on the Howard Stern Show
A few days ago, The Howard Stern Show shared a video from their vault featuring a 2013 appearance by ZZ Top. The clip starts with some background on “La Grange”, before Dusty Hill and the guys kick in to an extended version of the tune.
2. Booker T & The MG’s: “Soul Limbo” (Letterman Performance)
Will Lee has been sharing some pretty cool videos lately, like this one of Booker T & The MG’s (with Duck Dunn) performing on Letterman. Will tells the story here.
3. Steely Dan: Reelin’ in the Years (Old Grey Whistle Test)
Here’s a fantastic clip from the “Old Grey Whistle Test”, which was recorded around 1973 but wasn’t aired until 1978. Steely Dan performs “Reelin’ in the Years”, with the late, great Walter Becker on bass.
4. Weather Report: Black Market (Live at Montreux 1976)
Weather Report’s “Black Market” was my introduction to the band. It was also my introduction to Jaco Pastorius and Alphonso Johnson. I’ve seen this video many times, but we’ve never shared it here: their live performance of “Black Market” at Montreux.
5. EuBasss: “Good Love Is On The Way” Bass Playalong and Transcription
John Mayer Trio’s “Try” is one of my favorite records in my collection. Pino Palladino is an absolute monster throughout, so it was great to spot this video by EuBasss, who plays along to “Good Love Is On The Way” and shares the transcription.
6. Ryan Madora: How To Create A Bass Groove
Ryan Madora knows groove. In this video, she covers some tips on constructing a groovy bass line while working with drum loops.
7. Gev Delano: “Havona” Playthrough
I don’t know why it took me so long to discover Gev Delano and his videos, but I’m glad I did. After a bit of research, I found that he’s 10 years old. But that didn’t stop him from taking on a monster of a tune: Jaco’s “Havona”.
8. Melvin Lee Davis: O.C.O.E.
My friend Joshua Sailor shared this video on Facebook recently with a one word comment: “LOCKED”. In this clip, Melvin Lee Davis lays it down on his tune, “O.C.O.E. – Official Cat Of The Eighties”.
9. Yussef Dayes with Rocco Palladino & Charlie Stacey: Welcome To The Hills
Yussef Dayes has released another video featuring his trio with bassist Rocco Palladino (Pino’s son) and keyboardist Charlie Stacey. Recorded live at Jazzre:freshed, here’s their performance of “Welcome To The Hills”.
10. Dirty Loops: World On Fire
Dirty Loops has released their new EP, Phoenix. In celebration, they’ve released another video. “World On Fire” is the fourth track of the five-song album. Henrik Linder takes an incredible solo on this one.
