Dream Theater Announces New Album, Tour Dates
Dream Theater has unveiled their 15th studio album, which will be entitled A View From the Top of the World. The record is marked for a worldwide release on October 22nd.
“’A View From The Top Of The World’ is Dream Theater at its musical finest expanding on the sound they helped create while maintaining the elements that have garnered them devoted fans around the globe,” a press release explains.
The band created their new music during the downtime caused by the pandemic. The group worked on it from the recently finished DTHQ (Dream Theater Headquarters) with singer James Labrie on Zoom from Canada. He flew down to the space, which is in New York, in March to track his vocals in person.
“We just love to play our instruments,” says guitarist John Petrucci. “That never goes away. I love to be creative, write, and exercise that part of my mind. We’ve been able to do this for a long time, and we don’t take it for granted. Whenever we get together, we know we can’t disappoint ourselves or our fans, so we manage to try even harder.”
The band has yet to release any music from the effort, so we can’t marvel at the bass lines of John Myung just yet. However, they’ll be bringing the songs from A View From The Top Of The World to the masses with a two-month tour around the U.S. and Canada. The trek begins October 28th in Mesa, Arizona and will snake around the States with a handful of dates in Ontario and Quebec. It’s slated to finish on December 14th in St. Petersburg, Florida.
