Rodney Jordan and Christian Fabian Release “Conversations”
We have a saying here at No Treble: “The only thing better than a bass is two basses.” That’s why we dig the new album Conversations from Rodney Jordan and Christian Fabian. The double bass duo teamed up to explore a range of styles, from straight-ahead jazz standards to free improv to the musical compositions of Hildegard von Bingen.
“Hildegard von Bingen [was] a German abbess who lived from 1098-1179,” the liner notes explain. “She used music to heal people by singing tone rows to them.”
The duo also explores music as a healing element by using A=432Hz tuning. They recorded the whole album in that tuning, including the improv piece “432”.
