Sometimes you can’t let a good thing get away. That’s why after a few gigs together, Jukka Gustavson, Jan-Olof Strandberg, and Thomas Törnroos created a band and stuck together to make an album. “Natural High” is the group’s debut recording.

This week in The Brown’stone on No Treble, Rich Brown shares the mother of all pentatonic exercises. This one is going to be a workout, but it’ll be well worth it.

Here’s a great clip from Yes’s Youtube channel archives, featuring the band in a live performance at the Rainbow Theatre in 1972. This was the “Close to the Edge” tour, with the mighty Chris Squire on bass and backing vocals on “And You And I”.

Esperanza Spalding has released her eighth album as a leader, entitled “Songwrights Apothecary Lab”. Building off of the three-song EP from April, the album contains twelve songs.

MXR is now shipping the Deep Phase Pedal, which they say delivers “uniquely expressive vintage phaser tones.” The stompbox works well on both bass and guitar.

Steve Rabe, founder and chief engineer of SWR Engineering, has passed away, his family announced. He was 73 years old.

AST Basses & Guitars celebrated their 100th instrument by creating a masterpiece called The Dawn Bass. The six-string bass sports a quilted maple top that’s inlaid with padauk and ebony to create a Japanese theme.
