Keep It Groovy: How To Create a Groove Using The E Minor Pentatonic Scale

In this episode of “Keep It Groovy,” we’re going to build a groove using the e minor pentatonic scale as our groove prompt. It can be extremely helpful to give yourself a starting point, both rhythmically and harmonically, when you’re getting creative.

In this case, I’m working with a funky drum loop and tasking myself with using the e minor pentatonic scale. Adding slides, dead notes, and exploring the fretboard will also add shape and dimension to your bass line!
